Umbrella Care Management provides care management throughout the New York City Metro area. Since 2011, our primary focus is maintaining the well being, independence and dignity of elders and dependent adults while balancing the special needs and challenges families face while caring for their loved one.
We are a group of experienced care managers dedicated to advocating for your loved one as you navigate the byzantine health care system.
Umbrella Care Management has met the stringent eligibility requirements and rigorous testing to receive the Commission for Case Manager Certification. This designation requires that we hold to a strict code of ethics and standard of practice. And as a certified member of the National Association of Professional Geriatric Care Managers, we met additional educational and professional criteria specifically related to caring for the elderly, and are further beholden to a code of ethics and standards of practice.
Umbrella Care Management Founder
After many years of taking care of her 90 year-old grandmother and chronically ill, disabled father-in-law, Founder and President Barbara Wilhelmy realized her knowledge and years of experience navigating the byzantine processes of medical care, social programs, and entitlement eligibility could help others.
Barbara launched Umbrella Care Management to focus on her passion of ensuring the best possible quality of life for seniors and providing peace of mind for their caretakers.
Barbara started working in the nursing field after high school when she worked as a nurse’s aide. She went on to obtain licensure as a Registered Nurse and her Bachelor’s degree in nursing from Dominican College in Blauvelt, New York. After several years working in the hospital setting, Barbara changed direction and began working in the Case Management field. That was almost 20 years ago. After years of work in hospital-based case management and discharge planning, she worked her way up to Director of Case Management Services for a mid-sized case management company where she supervised hundreds of cases.
Barbara is happy to answer all questions about senior & disabled care issues. Barbara@1CallCare.com
